Cheryl McCormick, Ph.D., is the Executive Director of the Lindsay Wildlife Experience, located in Walnut Creek, CA. She was the Founder and Principal Consultant of Ascend Nonprofit Consulting and Executive Coaching, and served as the Executive Director of American Cetacean Society, where she represented U.S. Civil Society at the International Whaling Commission. Cheryl authored the internationally popular blog, IWC: The World Is Watching, reporting on events and personalities at the International Whaling Commission meetings, followed by more than 25,000 people from 87 countries.
Cheryl obtained a bachelors in Environmental Science with minors in Biology and Chemistry from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Plattsburgh, her M.A. in Geography/GIS, and a Ph.D. in Ecology from the Institute of Ecology at The University of Georgia (UGA). She completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Center for Aquatic and Invasive Plants (CAIP) at the University of Florida (UF). She is certified by the International Coach Federation (ICF) in executive coaching.
Cheryl is an active member of many professional organizations, including the International Coach Federation (ICF), Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), and Grant Professionals Association (GPA). She has served as a volunteer with the Blue Iguana Recovery Program in Grand Cayman, and with the Sea Otter Research and Conservation (SORAC) program at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
She has authored many editorials, news articles, statewide invasive species management plans, peer-reviewed research articles, and a book on invasive plant species in Florida’s natural areas.
